WRITING

In the early 2010s I was looking for a way of making things that was not so reliant on other people. By that I mean with composition you are always hoping that someone will play your music. You give up the agency of ‘getting things out there’ and instead become dependent on other people for your artistic contentedness. Not only that, but unless the performers are up to it, a substandard rendition of your work is always on the horizon. I wanted to have no intermediary between what I do and what comes out the other side. Writing is locked in. Just as a painting is. Just as a piece of electro-acoustic music is. This was the idea anyway… Robert Creeley, Anne Sexton, Selima Hill, Roy Fisher are a few favourites. Below is a list of published poems, short stories and novels:
